The independent online magazine POV International has published a portrait of Gustav Piekut, where he shares insights into music and life as a pianist through short video vignettes. The portrait was produced by Ole Blegvad.
Gustav Piekut performed Prokofiev’s demanding 3rd Piano Concerto with the Slovak State Philharmonic Orchestra Kosice under the direction of Christian Øland. After the concert, the cultural media Moja Kultura wrote:
“He played with remarkable nuances of sound—so controlled that one experienced the proverbial silence in the hall during the pianissimo passages. It was a truly brilliant performance, played at tempos that took your breath away. (…) Prokofiev, played by the two Danish artists, became a primal force, then a pleasant rhapsody, then humorous, brilliantly virtuosic, and sensitively lyrical—beautifully executed by the soloist.”
Piekut’s album Towards the Flame, released on Naxos Records in 2021, has been nominated in the solo category of the International Classical Music Awards.
Gustav Piekut performed Rachmaninov’s Third Piano Concerto with Copenhagen Phil and conductor Christoph Gedschold to great critical acclaim.

Gustav Piekut has been awarded Gladsaxe Musikpris 2021 at a concert with Copenhagen Phil and Maestro Toshiyuki Kamioka, where they performed Beethoven’s 5th Piano Concerto, the ‘Emperor’. Gladsaxe Musikpris consists of a scholarship of DKK 50.000 and has been awarded to some of the most important Danish classical musicians since 1966. VIolinist (and chamber music partner!)
