From Danish newspaper Politiken:
“The Danish Music Reviewers’ Association awards two Artist Prizes each year. They are primarily given to younger musicians, conductors, singers and ensembles who have made a significant mark on the Danish classical music scene. The prizes are regarded as especially prestigious amongst musicians, as they are awarded by the association of music reviewers in Denmark.”

Gustav Piekut has been awarded a scholarship of DKK 70.000 from the Danish van Hauen Foundation. The prize ceremony, which took place in the TIVOLI concert hall, Copenhagen, saw a performance of Shostakovich Piano Concerto no. 1 with trumpetist Joris van Rijbel, conductor Henrik Brendstrup and the ARCO string orchestra.
“Gustav Piekut has recorded an album, which, if justice exists in this universe, will launch him into international orbit. There is confidence, dexterity and Beethovenian explosivity. Yet also balance, reflection and maturity. Above all, there is an understanding of the inner logic in Beethoven’s colossal work, which is the necessary rocket fuel when one wants to embark on such a long journey into the musical cosmos.”
